Palette Gallery proudly presents Hoboken artist CRAIG WALLACE DALE’s “Language, Identity, Meaning”. He manipulates and layers printed images by hand with encaustic wax, paint, and oil pigment. “This work is meant to act as a space where people will investigate, and thus begin to question language and identity and how both of those operations are culturally created meaning structures. The work begins with photographs of dictionaries, illustrated bibles, and anatomy texts, printed on paper. There is no Photoshop or any other image manipulation in the production of the photography. I then use encaustic wax and oil pigment to build texture and further the depth and mystery of the pieces. The work is intended to be richly beautiful and pull the viewer in deeper and deeper, furthering the investigation.”
